Hello,
New to the forum and looking forward to any responses. I have a cigar/cigarette case and it has this mark on the bottom. Is anyone able to give me any information on the mark? It would be much appreciated.
thanks,
Trying to identify a mark
Re: Trying to identify a mark
Hello and welcome to the forum.
The upper set of characters "純銀" translates to "pure silver". Although no purity is given, items with this mark are often 0.800 to 0.925 fine silver or greater.
I cannot read the other sets of marks, but one set is likely to be the name of the silversmith. The other set may be commemorating an occasion or recipient.
Let's see if other members can provide additional details.

Awesome thanks for the reply. In case this helps with anything here is what the box and ashtray looks like. The box is roughly 8"x5".
